The latest in my Scranton Trails series picks up where my “Middle Trail” installment left off. We resume from Middle Trail and make our way on to Upper Trail, also known as Ore Mine Road. It follows an old abandoned railroad line, starting at River Street in South Side, right across the street from the Salvation Army, shortly before entering the East Mountain section of Scranton. The trail extends for about 2.5 miles.
When you reach the end, you’ll come across a small stream. This is a popular party spot, especially among quad and dirt bike riders. The amount of litter there disgusts me. At any rate, you can choose to wade across the stream or take a rickety, old, rotting bridge across it. I usually take the bridge, but PLEASE be careful if you do. After that point, Upper Trail links up with Middle Trail and continues on into South Side. And that about does it for Upper Trail. I hope you enjoyed watching!
